Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 27, 2026
The short version: Courtshoot collects your location to show nearby courts and games, your account info to run your profile, and basic usage data to improve the app. We don't sell your data. Ever.
1. Who We Are
Courtshoot Inc. (“Courtshoot,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Courtshoot mobile application and website (collectively, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our Service.
By using Courtshoot, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account information: Name, email address, username, and password when you create an account.
- Profile information: Profile photo, skill level, preferred positions, and bio.
- Game and squad data: Matches you create or join, squad memberships, and player connections.
- Court contributions: Photos, ratings, and information you add to court listings.
- Communications: Messages sent through the app or to our support team.
Information Collected Automatically
- Location data: With your permission, we collect your precise or approximate location to show nearby courts and games. You can disable this at any time in your device settings.
- Device information: Device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers.
- Usage data: Features used, pages viewed, and actions taken in the app.
- Log data: IP address, browser type, and timestamps of requests.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Courtshoot Service
- Show you nearby courts and available pickup games
- Enable you to create and join matches and squads
- Send you notifications about games you've joined or been invited to
- Build and display your player profile and stats
- Communicate with you about your account and our Service
- Monitor and analyze usage patterns to improve the app experience
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent or abusive activity
4. Sharing Your Information
We share your information only in these circumstances:
- With other users: Your profile, game history, and squad affiliations are visible to other Courtshoot users as part of the core social features of the app.
- Service providers: We work with third-party companies for hosting, analytics, push notifications, and customer support. These providers access your data only to perform services for us.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid legal processes.
- Business transfers: If Courtshoot is acquired or merged, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
5. Location Data
Location is core to what Courtshoot does. We use your location to find courts and games near you. Specifically:
- Location is only accessed when you have the app open (foreground use) unless you grant “always on” access for match notifications.
- Your precise location is never shared publicly. Other users see an approximate distance (e.g., “0.3 miles away”) rather than your exact coordinates.
- You can revoke location permissions at any time in your device settings. Some features will be limited without location access.
6. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our Service. You may delete your account at any time from the app settings, which will remove your personal data within 30 days. Some data may be retained in backups for up to 90 days and in aggregated, anonymized form indefinitely.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data.
- Portability: Receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Opt-out: Unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time.
To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@courtshoot.com.
8. Children's Privacy
Courtshoot is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us immediately.
9. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and regular security audits. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your Courtshoot account.
10. Third-Party Services
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or integrate third-party services (such as Apple Maps or Google Maps for court locations). This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party services. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes via the app or email at least 30 days before they take effect. Your continued use of Courtshoot after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
